The worth of a product, they say, is not defined by mere numbers; but by the fact that how easily does it connect with the end user. It stands true in the case of different CMS platforms too. The easier it is for the user to manage the CMS, the higher the chances of it being chosen by them. In the previous blog from our this series of Silverstripe blogs, we talked about Silverstripe’s origin, milestones works and what makes it a smart choice from a pool of them. So, moving forward, here we’ll talk about how easy is it to manage a Silverstripe-based website.
The entire functionality of SilverStripe’s administration panel is quite simplistic for every end user to operate. AddWeb’s well-versed team in SilverStripe presents you an entire guideline on how to operate SilverStripe’s administration panel. Each of the functionality of the panel is well explained in here, along with illustrative screenshots of the same. Let the journey of exploring and learning about the administration panel of SilverStripe begin!

As you can see, the administration panel consists of various menu viz. Pages, Campaigns, Files and Images, Reports, Manage Security of Admin and its members and set the settings of the website.
Let us explore each of these menus in detail, along with illustrative screenshots for your better understanding.
Pages menu is meant to let you add, edit & delete the pages as well as subpages. URL required for the page can also be set and altered by you. Security aspects in reference to who can view/edit the page can also be set from here.
The campaigns section allows you in both creating a new group content and pushing the content that is ready to be released.
The files section will allow you to add and delete the files. It also helps you in managing the files into a folder, which can be later used anywhere in the site.
As the name suggests, the report section is meant to create reports for the site, which includes reports categorized like - pages with broken files, pages with no content, pages edited in last 2 week, etc.
Security matters to Silverstripe just as much as it does to you. Hence, the security section here comes with multiple sub-section, mentioned as below:
- Create and Delete Members:
Create, Edit & Delete Groups:
Create & Delete Roles:
Change User Password:
The global settings of the site are managed here, viz. site name, site tagline and user access control.
The help section will direct access to SilverStripe user help.
