Cook for Home: WordPress-Powered Personal Chef Discovery Marketplace with Dynamic Directory & Multi-Vendor Architecture

AddWeb Solution collaborated with Sara Bettelli to develop and launch a dynamic Find a Chef directory on the pre-existing Cook for Home platform – an on-demand personal chef marketplace of matching Italian families with professional chefs to have customized home dining experiences. We developed a highly architected chef discovery experience with advanced filtering, re-architectured chef onboarding flow, and a strong multi-vendor infrastructure based on WooCommerce – an experience that provides a seamless family and chef experience on the site.

Building a Full Marketplace Directory Experience with Redesigned Chef Onboarding on WordPress

AddWeb Solution began with a thorough audit of the existing Cook for Home platform to understand its current architecture, user flows, and the gaps between the platform’s current state and the marketplace experience it needed to deliver. The audit informed a structured development plan covering the directory build, chef onboarding redesign, and multi-vendor integration.

The “Find a Chef” directory was architected as the platform’s primary discovery engine, built on WordPress 6.9.4 with Advanced Custom Fields Pro enabling rich, structured chef profile data that could be filtered, searched, and surfaced dynamically based on family preferences. Every chef profile was designed to capture and display the information families needed to make an informed hiring decision, including cuisine specialties, occasion types, availability, and pricing.

A significant focus of our approach was the redesign of the chef onboarding flow — the process by which a platform user transitions into a registered, bookable chef. The existing flow was broken and confusing, creating drop-off before chefs could complete their registration. We rebuilt this journey from the ground up, creating a clear, guided, step-by-step onboarding experience that made it straightforward for professional chefs to set up their profiles and become discoverable on the platform.

The multi-vendor architecture was implemented using WooCommerce, WooCommerce Product Vendors, and WooCommerce Subscriptions, giving each chef their own vendor account, subscription management capability, and service listing tools within a unified platform environment. CPanel hosting was configured to support the platform’s growing data and traffic requirements.

The project has continued beyond the initial 8-week build phase into a CR (Change Request) phase, with CR1 and CR2 both completed and currently under client review, demonstrating the ongoing, collaborative nature of the engagement.

“ “AddWeb Solution built exactly what our platform needed, a proper, structured way for families to find and connect with chefs that actually works. The directory is clean, the filtering is intuitive, and the new chef onboarding flow has made a real difference in how easily chefs can register and get themselves listed. They handled a genuinely complex build with multiple moving parts across the multi-vendor setup and subscription management without missing a beat. We’ve continued working with them through our change request phases and the collaboration has been consistently professional and responsive.” ”

Delivering a Fully Functional Personal Chef Marketplace with Structured Discovery and Scalable Multi-Vendor Infrastructure

Through AddWeb Solution’s comprehensive development engagement, Cook for Home now operates as a fully structured personal chef marketplace with a dynamic, filterable directory at its core. Families can discover and evaluate professional chefs based on their specific preferences, and professional chefs can register, onboard, and manage their presence on the platform through a clear, guided flow that removes the friction that was previously causing drop-off.

The multi-vendor architecture powered by WooCommerce, WooCommerce Product Vendors, and WooCommerce Subscriptions gives the platform a scalable commercial foundation, supporting independent chef vendor accounts, subscription-based memberships, and service listings that can grow with the marketplace as it expands its chef and family user bases.

The redesigned chef onboarding flow addresses what was previously the platform’s most critical supply-side weakness, ensuring that professional chefs can complete registration and become discoverable without confusion or drop-off. With two change request phases delivered and reviewed, the platform continues to be refined in close collaboration with the client, ensuring it consistently meets the evolving needs of both families and chefs on the platform.
