Reunion Wellness: High-Performance Migration to WordPress from Squarespace for Wellness Resort
We have designed the new site of Reunion wellness as a SquareSpace site to a high-performance, fully customizable site based on WordPress that will allow the team to own all content control. To keep the current design aesthetic, increase the visual sophistication and user experience, combine MEWS PMS and HubSpot, and improve the performance of the site, we managed to provide the foundation that will support the long-term growth and development of the wellness program of the resort.
The Business Needs
Understanding the Challenge of Platform Limitations
Reunion Wellness is a high-end wellness resort and retreat center located in Costa Rica that had major restrictions to their current SquareSpace site. However, as much as the initial design reflected the spirit of the brand, the nature of the platform did not allow the team to be timely with its content updates, implement new retreat programs effectively, or design custom pages without relying on technical solutions.
The website was performing worse than the industry average and the load times were slow, which influenced the user experience and the search engines. The team was not flexible enough to handle their expanding number of wellness retreats and programs by themselves, and it produced bottlenecks and reliance on external assistance to make even minor changes.
The issues associated with the integration with the key business systems, MEWS Property Management System to make a booking and HubSpot to manage leads, led to the lack of integration and the absence of interlinked working processes. Since the resort was adding new products and reaching wider wellness-seeking markets, they required a platform that could grow easily and still have the same brand.
Their business needed a full platform upgrade that would retain their proven design identity, and provide better performance, full content control, flawless system integrations, and a sustainable growth platform.

Our Approach
Building a flexible, high-performance WordPress foundation
Our strategic migration methodology gave importance to design continuity, performance optimization, and flexibility in operations. The project was developed on the basis of thorough analysis of the current SquareSat site, identification of design details to be retained, content to be transferred and possibilities of improvement.
WordPress flexibility and Bricks Builder were used to control the design and provide the best performance in terms of our development strategy. We did not go with heavy page builders, instead we selected Bricks because of clean code output, quick loading speed and visual output editing features that would enable the client team after the launch.
Our templates of the custom pages are tailored to the retreat programs and this helps to create new offerings easily and with no technical skills. Integration architecture was to be developed to have MEWS PMS and HubSpot integrated together to have automated data flow of bookings and lead management.
Optimization of performance was integrated into the whole development process, the lightweight code, optimized images, the strategic caching, and reduced dependencies guaranteed the fast loading of all devices. The whole construction was made in such a way that it was long lasting, maintainable and scalable.
